Gridding

The process of interpolating irregularly spaced data points onto a regular grid or mesh. This technique is applied in atmospheric science to convert observations from weather stations or satellite soundings into a format suitable for numerical models or visualization. Common gridding methods include inverse distance weighting, kriging, and spline interpolation.
