Minor trough

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007315

An elongated area of relatively low atmospheric pressure that is weaker and less developed than a major trough. These features are associated with a slight cyclonic curvature in the airflow and can produce localized cloudiness and light precipitation. Unlike major troughs, which extend over large synoptic scales, minor troughs are smaller in scale and have a more transient nature.
