Noise threshold
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007567
The minimum power or intensity level that a signal must exceed to be distinguished from background noise by a sensor or data processing algorithm. Signals below this level are considered part of the noise and are filtered out or ignored. In weather radar data, setting a noise threshold prevents the display of spurious, non-meteorological echoes caused by receiver noise.
