Nonlinear

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007579

Describing a system or process where the output is not directly proportional to the input, or where the governing equations contain terms that are not linear. Most atmospheric processes are inherently nonlinear, leading to complex and sometimes chaotic behavior. This characteristic makes long-range weather forecasting challenging.
