Tangent linear model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009497

A numerical model that solves the tangent linear equations, representing the linearized dynamics of a full nonlinear atmospheric or oceanic model. This model calculates how small initial perturbations evolve over time. It is a core component of advanced data assimilation schemes and ensemble forecasting techniques.
