Photon flux
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007922
The rate at which photons pass through a given surface area per unit time. In atmospheric science, it quantifies the intensity of light, particularly solar radiation, which drives photochemical processes and influences radiative transfer. This measurement is often expressed in units of photons per square meter per second, providing a direct measure of the number of light particles available for absorption.
