Responsive parameterization
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008541
A method in numerical weather and climate models where the parameters used to represent sub-grid-scale processes are allowed to change in response to the model's simulated state. Instead of using fixed values, this approach adjusts parameters based on factors like season, location, or atmospheric conditions to better represent physical reality. For example, a cloud microphysics parameter might be adjusted based on the simulated aerosol concentration in the model.
