Rotenturm wind

A warm, dry, and gusty downslope wind that occurs in the vicinity of the Rotenturm Pass in the Southern Carpathian Mountains of Romania. This local wind is a specific example of a foehn wind, created when air loses moisture on the windward side of the mountains and warms adiabatically as it descends on the leeward side. The arrival of the Rotenturm wind is marked by a rapid temperature rise and a decrease in relative humidity.
