Salt haze
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008637
An atmospheric phenomenon characterized by reduced visibility due to the presence of numerous microscopic salt particles suspended in the air. These particles originate primarily from sea spray, especially in coastal regions or over oceans. The hygroscopic nature of salt causes these particles to grow in size at high humidity, further scattering light and obscuring vision.
