Singular corresponding point
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008894
A point on a halo arc where light rays from two or more distinct crystal orientations converge, creating a localized region of enhanced brightness. This convergence occurs because the deviation angle of light passing through the ice crystals has a stationary value with respect to crystal orientation at that specific point on the sky. The presence of these points explains the formation of caustics, which appear as the brightest parts of complex halo displays, such as the cusps of a Parry arc.
