Transmission function
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009762
A measure of the fraction of electromagnetic radiation that passes through a medium, such as the atmosphere, without being absorbed or scattered. It is a function of the wavelength of the radiation and the properties of the atmospheric path, including the concentration of gases like water vapor and carbon dioxide. The transmission function is dimensionless, ranging from 0 for complete opacity to 1 for perfect transparency at a given wavelength.
