Transmittance

The fraction of incident electromagnetic radiation that passes through a substance or medium without being absorbed or scattered. It is a dimensionless quantity, often expressed as a percentage, and is inversely related to absorbance and opacity. In atmospheric science, it quantifies how much solar or terrestrial radiation penetrates through atmospheric layers.
