Unsaturated flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010826
The movement of water through a porous medium, such as soil, in which the pores contain both water and air. This flow is driven by gradients in matric potential (capillary forces) and gravitational potential, with hydraulic conductivity being highly dependent on the water content. In contrast, saturated flow occurs when all pores are filled with water.
