Wilting point
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010242
The minimum amount of soil moisture required for a plant to avoid permanent wilting. At this point, the soil water potential is too low for the plant's roots to extract sufficient water to maintain turgor. This threshold varies depending on the soil type and plant species, but it is generally around -15 bars of pressure.
