Abrasion test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000003
A laboratory test that rates how abrasive a drilling fluid weighting material, such as barite or hematite, is toward steel. A stainless steel mixer blade is run in a mud made with the material, and the weight the blade loses over a set time measures the abrasiveness. The blade, not the weighting material, is what wears and is weighed.
