Air wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004222
A seismic wave that travels through the air from the source to the receiver, rather than through the ground. It is a direct arrival that propagates at the speed of sound in air, which is significantly slower than seismic waves in rock. Air waves appear as distinct, low-frequency events on seismic records and are often removed during data processing.
