Aluminum activation log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000104
A nuclear logging tool that measures the concentration of aluminum in a formation by bombarding it with neutrons and detecting the gamma rays emitted by activated aluminum isotopes. This log is used to identify clay minerals, which often contain aluminum, and to estimate shale volume. It provides a direct measurement of aluminum content, unlike some other clay indicators.
