Biot theory
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000354
A poroelastic theory that describes the propagation of acoustic waves through a fluid-saturated porous medium. It accounts for the interaction between the solid rock frame and the pore fluid, including viscous coupling and inertial effects. This theory predicts two compressional waves and one shear wave, with their velocities and attenuations dependent on rock properties, fluid properties, and frequency.
