Born method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004244
A mathematical approximation used in the inversion of wave-based data, such as seismic or electromagnetic logs, to estimate formation properties. The method linearizes the complex relationship between the measured scattered field and the physical property contrasts within the formation, simplifying the inversion process. This approach is valid when the property variations are small compared to the background medium, making it a first-order scattering model.
