Tensor methods

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003793

Mathematical techniques that use tensors, which are generalized vectors and matrices, to describe physical properties that vary with direction. In reservoir characterization, tensor methods are applied to represent anisotropic properties like permeability or stress, where the magnitude of the property depends on the direction of measurement. This approach provides a more complete description of complex subsurface conditions.
