Bottomhole sampler
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000421
A wireline-run tool designed to capture a sample of reservoir fluid under downhole pressure and temperature conditions. The tool is lowered to the producing interval, where it opens to collect a fluid sample and then seals it at the prevailing reservoir pressure. Analysis of the retrieved sample in a laboratory determines fluid properties such as bubble point, gas-oil ratio, and composition.
