Cellar

A concrete-lined pit dug below the rig floor, providing space for the installation of blowout preventers, casing heads, and other wellhead equipment. It allows the rig floor to be at a convenient working height while maintaining sufficient clearance for subsurface equipment. The cellar also collects drilling fluids and debris.
