Condensing drive
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000804
A miscible gas injection process in which a gas enriched with intermediate hydrocarbons, such as ethane through hexane, condenses those components into the reservoir oil as it contacts it. The oil near the injection well becomes progressively lighter until it can mix fully with the injected gas, which creates a miscible front that sweeps oil forward. It differs from a vaporizing drive, where a lean gas strips intermediates out of the oil.
