Conductor pipe

The largest diameter and shortest string of casing, installed in the initial phase of drilling a well. It is set to prevent the unconsolidated shallow formations from caving in and to provide a stable foundation for the blowout preventer (BOP) stack. This pipe typically extends a short distance below the surface and is cemented in place.
