Consistometer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000818
A laboratory instrument that measures the thickening time of a cement slurry under simulated downhole conditions of high temperature and pressure. The device measures the consistency, or viscosity, of the slurry as it hydrates and begins to set. Thickening time is defined as the time required for the slurry to reach a specific consistency, typically 100 Bearden units of consistency (Bc), after which it is considered unpumpable.
