Thickening time
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003812
The time required for a cement slurry to reach a specific consistency, indicating the onset of hydration and loss of pumpability. It is measured in a pressurized consistometer that simulates downhole temperature and pressure conditions while continuously monitoring the slurry's viscosity. The test ends when the consistency reaches 100 Bearden units of consistency (Bc), which is the standard API threshold for defining the end of the pumpable period.
