Derivative logs
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001024
Well logs that are mathematically derived from primary log measurements, often by calculating the rate of change of a property with respect to depth. These logs can enhance subtle features or identify boundaries that are less apparent in the original data. Examples include the derivative of resistivity logs to detect thin beds or the derivative of sonic logs for fracture detection.
