Depth-derived
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001023
Describing a borehole-compensated sonic measurement in which a transit-time reading is stored and averaged with a second reading taken after the tool has moved a fixed distance up the hole, so errors from changes in hole size cancel. The compensation comes from the tool's depth movement, which is how the long-spaced sonic tool, with 10 to 12 feet between transmitters and receivers, achieves it without an unwieldy length. The mode is abbreviated DDBHC.
