Diatomite

A soft, friable, and porous sedimentary rock composed primarily of the fossilized remains of diatoms, which are siliceous microalgae. This rock forms from the accumulation of diatom frustules in aquatic environments. It is also known as diatomaceous earth and has industrial applications as a filter, abrasive, and absorbent.
