Float joint
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001458
A full-length joint of casing at the bottom of the string, between the float collar and the float shoe, which is left full of cement after pumping because the top plug lands on the float collar. Keeping cement inside this joint leaves good cement around the shoe and gives a margin against overdisplacement. It is also called a shoe joint.
