Shoe track
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003377
The section of casing at the bottom of a string between the float collar, or landing collar, and the float shoe. After the top plug lands on the collar, cement remains in this section, and the check valves in the collar and shoe stop it flowing back into the casing from the annulus. The bit drills out the plug, float equipment, and shoe track cement before the next hole section.
