Formation fluid

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004334

The naturally occurring liquids and gases contained within the pore spaces of a subsurface rock formation. These fluids, which include crude oil, natural gas, and formation water (brine), are the targets of exploration and production activities. The composition, pressure, and properties of formation fluids are determined through well logging, fluid sampling, and laboratory analysis.
