Gas hydrate
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001622
A crystalline solid formed from natural gas and water molecules under conditions of high pressure and low temperature. The water molecules form a cage-like structure that traps the gas molecules, resembling ice. These compounds can occur naturally in deep ocean sediments and permafrost regions, representing a potential future energy resource.
