Mutual solvent

A chemical additive used in well treatments that is soluble in both oil and water, and often in acid. It reduces the interfacial tension between treatment fluids and reservoir fluids, improving the efficiency of fluid placement and cleanup. Common mutual solvents include ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGMBE).
