Perforating fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002740
A clean, solids-free liquid, such as filtered brine, left in the wellbore across the interval when the guns are fired. It sets the pressure balance between the well and the formation, either overbalanced or underbalanced, and avoids plugging the new perforation tunnels with solids. Its density is chosen from the reservoir pressure and the planned underbalance or overbalance.
