Sandface
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003250
The physical surface of the formation rock that is exposed to the wellbore and through which reservoir fluids flow into the well. In an openhole completion, the sandface is the wall of the borehole, while in a cased and perforated completion, it is the formation surface at the end of each perforation tunnel. The condition of this interface, particularly any damage or plugging, directly affects the productivity of the well.
