Selective firing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003327
The technique of detonating specific perforating guns or charges within a long gun string at different times, rather than firing the entire assembly at once. This is achieved using addressable switches or pressure-activated firing heads that allow the operator to choose which zones to perforate and in what sequence during a single trip into the well. Selective firing is used to perforate multiple intervals that require different underbalance pressures or to test zones individually.
