Static pressure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003594
The pressure within a reservoir when it is not producing fluids and all pressure transients have dissipated, representing a state of equilibrium. It is measured after a prolonged shut-in period, allowing the pressure throughout the drainage area to equalize. This value, also known as the average reservoir pressure, is a key parameter for calculating reserves, planning production strategies, and determining the energy available to drive fluids to the wellbore.
