Transient electromagnetic method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003892
A geophysical technique that measures the decay of induced eddy currents in the Earth after a primary electromagnetic field is switched off. It involves transmitting a current into the ground and then recording the transient voltage response with a receiver coil. This method is used for mapping subsurface resistivity variations, which can indicate the presence of hydrocarbons or groundwater.
