Scribe line
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000296
A narrow, unpatterned region on a semiconductor wafer that separates individual dies (chips) from one another. These lines provide space for sawing or dicing the wafer into discrete chips after all fabrication steps are complete. The scribe line typically contains alignment marks and test structures used during manufacturing and quality control.
