Absorbance matching

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000061

A spectrophotometric procedure in which the sample is diluted with solvent until its absorbance equals that of a reference solution held in the reference cell, so that the analyte concentration follows from the dilution made. Because equal absorbances are compared directly rather than read from a calibration curve, it remains usable where absorbance is not proportional to concentration.
