Adoptive transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000273
The process of transferring immunocompetent cells, such as lymphocytes, from one individual to another to confer immunological function. The transferred cells can be from a syngeneic (genetically identical), allogeneic (genetically different), or xenogeneic (different species) donor. This technique is widely used in immunology research to study the function of specific cell populations and in clinical settings for cancer immunotherapy, where a patient's own T cells are modified and reinfused.
