Aligned incidence spectrum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000387
A spectrum obtained in surface chemical analysis where the incident beam of particles or radiation is aligned with specific crystallographic directions of the sample. This alignment leads to channeling or blocking effects, which alter the interaction probability and thus the detected signal. Such spectra provide information about the atomic arrangement and composition near the surface, often used in techniques like Rutherford backscattering spectrometry.
