Ion beam analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006071
A collection of analytical techniques that probe the elemental composition and structure of materials by bombarding a sample with a beam of energetic ions and detecting the emitted radiation or scattered particles. These methods are non-destructive and provide information on surface and near-surface regions. Common techniques include Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) and particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE).
