anti-DNA antibody

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000676

An autoantibody that specifically targets and binds to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which can be either single-stranded or double-stranded. In immunotoxicology, the presence of these antibodies is a key biomarker for certain autoimmune diseases. High levels of antibodies against double-stranded DNA are a specific diagnostic criterion for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
