Antinociception
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012876
The reduction in the perception of a noxious or painful stimulus, which can be achieved through pharmacological or physiological means. It involves blocking the signaling of nociceptive pathways, either at the peripheral nerve level, in the spinal cord, or within the brain. The analgesic effect of opioid drugs like morphine is a primary example of pharmacologically induced antinociception.
