Opiate receptor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008260

A class of G protein-coupled receptors located primarily in the brain, spinal cord, and digestive tract, which bind opioid compounds. Activation of these receptors mediates the analgesic, euphoric, and other pharmacological effects of opioids. There are several subtypes, including mu, delta, and kappa opioid receptors, each with distinct functions and ligand affinities.
