Antipyretic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000707
A substance that reduces or prevents fever by lowering a raised body temperature. These agents act on the hypothalamus, the brain's thermoregulatory center, to override a fever-inducing stimulus, such as a pyrogen. Common examples of antipyretic drugs include paracetamol (acetaminophen) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and aspirin.
