Antrum

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012878

A cavity or chamber of the body, frequently within bone, whose exact meaning depends on the organ, as in the pyloric antrum at the lower end of the stomach, the maxillary antrum in the cheek bone and the fluid-filled antrum of a developing ovarian follicle. In the follicle it appears at the change from the secondary to the tertiary stage and fills with follicular fluid secreted by granulosa cells.
