Follicular phase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004573
The initial stage of the ovarian cycle, beginning with menstruation and ending with ovulation, during which ovarian follicles mature under the influence of follicle-stimulating hormone. During this phase, estrogen levels rise, leading to the proliferation of the uterine lining. This phase typically lasts about 10 to 14 days in humans.
